Bro. Dexter Bacon, Jr. 82 of Glasgow went home to be with his Heavenly Father Tuesday, February 05, 2013 after a brief illness. He was the son of the late Dexter and Helen Miller Bacon. He was a member of the Dover Missionary Baptist Church at Etoile and a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U. S. Army.
Bro. Bacon was a Pastor for 53 years at Union #2, Summer Shade, Bethel Baptist in Indianapolis and Dover at Etoile, all Missionary Baptist Churches. He also served as a missionary in Japan for 4 years. He was a member of the H. B. Grant Masonic Lodge #610 at Etoile and the Etoile Eastern Star #522. Bro. Bacon will be truly missed by his church families who loved him dearly.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years Shirley Morrison Bacon; two sons David Madison Bacon (Sandy) of Keizer, OR and Dan Richard Bacon (Sharon) of Prospect, KY; a sister Betty Bowman (Evans) of Temple Hill; a brother Joe Donald Bacon (Donnie) of Eighty Eight; four grandchildren Katie Bacon, Alexa Bacon, Layne Bacon and Seth Bacon; a nephew Gerry Bowman (Becky); a niece Melanie Jones (Larry); a brother-in-law C. G. Morrison (Marcella) and a sister-in-law Jocille Wright (Eddie).
Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday, February 8, 2013 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery with military honors provided by DAV Chapter #20 of Glasgow. Visitation will be Wednesday after 5:00pm, Thursday 8:00am until 8:00pm and Friday morning until time for the service.
Our deepest sympathy! Brother Dexter was a stalwart for the Missionary Baptist. He will indeed be missed.
